C-NOTE JOURNAL- YOUR VOTE DOES COUNT

You, the people have spoken loud and clear across the country and here in Illinois. With you one vote you were able to change congress, elect new governors and the like.
The governors race was mighty close despite the fact that many polls had GOP State Sen. Bill Brady up by 10 to 12 points but it was Governor Quinn that wins re-election. Is it the closest race for governor in Illinois history? Former State Board of Elections Executive Director Ron Michaelson says that " Quinn's margin of about 8,000 votes( give or take a few) is likely to be reduced as additional ballots are counted". Those additional ballots, as we later learned were going for Quinn which is why Brady conceded the election. Michaelson presumed that " the loser will envoke the statewide recount law" which did not happen with Brady's concession. It was headed down the Thompson/ Stevenson race of 1982 in which then-Gov. Jim Thompson won by just 5,074 votes that year. This time it was close but not that close. The recount law that was passed in the aftermath of the '82 race which still has not been used. Michaelson says that " The law then on the books was ruled unconstitutional by the Illinois Supreme Court. Because of that, there was never any recount of the '82 race." You vote does count folks, no matter if the powers that be think they can do what they want, pay the price of not following the will of the people. Continue to exercise your right to vote and keep working to make things better.
